Newport

  Easton's Beach, or First Beach, is where the elite beach. Cabanas and a vintage merry-go-round sit on a shore often filled with sandcastle contests and live music. Sachuest Beach, or Second Beach, in Middletown, is known for its sandy dunes, long stretches, and near-by bird sanctuary.
  Third Beach faces the Sakonnet River and is a favorite spot for families with children. Sandy Point Beach, in Portsmouth and facing the Sakonnet River, offers a calm shore and is little known by tourists.
  Gooseberry Beach, along Ocean Drive, is between the private beaches of Hazard's and Bailey's. Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge is 242 acres of grasslands, marshes, and beaches on a peninsula between Second and Third Beach.
  Battery Park, a local secret near the historic Point, with lots of local flavor. Brenton Point State Park, with magnificent panoramic views of the Rhode Island Sound and brisk sea breezes that beckon kite flyers galore. It boasts rolling lawns for picnics and rocky seashores for shell seekers.
  Ft. Adams State Park, home of Ft. Adams, built in 1776, and host to Newport's world-renown Annual Jazz Fest. King Park, a small park with a big heart, faces Newport harbor. In-town beach with lifeguard.
  Norman Bird Sanctuary in Middletown is a nature preserve of 450 acres that serves as a habitat for over 250 species of wild birds and offers 7 miles of hiking trails. Paradise Park, located in Middletown, is a peaceful little park whose grounds hold an 1810 windmill, an 1875 one-room schoolhouse, and a picturesque gazebo. Its gravel, meandering path is perfect for strolls.
  Rovensky Park, maintained by the Newport Preservation Society, is off the famous Bellevue Avenue.

Touro Park, home of the Old Stone Mill. The mill is traditionally considered the oldest structure in Newport, dating to 1011 AD. OR, it could be a Colonial windmill!
